We’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Hiamine (Minnie) Maass, our new Ob/Gyn! Dr. Maass brings passion into everything she does, whether she’s providing medical humanitarian assistance, caring for her patients, or brushing up on new languages.
Here are 5 things to know about Dr. Minnie Maass:
She’s a humanitarian
Dr. Maass was a part of one of the first emergency response teams to arrive in Haiti just hours after the earthquake that devastated Port-Au-Prince in 2010. She assisted with the search and rescue efforts, provided care, and also headed the coordination and transfer of critical patients. She continues to work with several international organizations to provide access to health care to underserved populations as well as providing clinical training to midwives, physicians and other clinical staff internationally.
She strives to go above and beyond for all her patients
Dr. Maass is a woman who’s in it for other women. She’s passionate about providing quality health care and empowering women to make their own choices, particularly when it comes to reproductive rights. Her personalized approach has helped to solidify rewarding and lasting relationships between her and her patients. She provides her undivided attention during each visit so that each patient is fully evaluated, heard, and cared for.
Dr. Maass is a polyglot and speaks several languages, including Portuguese, English, and Spanish. She can read and write in French and she’s currently in the process of learning Mandarin.
She’s a citizen of the world
Dr. Maass hails from Brazil, but she’s also called Miami and Los Angeles home. As a traveling enthusiast, she has been to 40+ countries, each incredible in their own way. Now that she’s settled in New York City, she enjoys the unique charms the city has to offer her, including the fast paced way of life, the availability of different cuisines, and the multicultural aspect of the city.

If Dr. Maass wasn’t an Ob/Gyn, she would be a chef. Dr. Maass loves food and cooking. Throughout college she worked in many roles at Outback Steakhouse, including a line cook! Needless to say, cooking is her favorite activity and pizza is her favorite food.
