What is Fibroid Hormone Treatment?
Fibroid hormone treatment targets the hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle in order to shrink fibroids and slow their growth. When hormone production decreases, fibroids shrink and symptoms improve.
This treatment is most often prescribed to help manage the symptoms of fibroids or adenomyosis, or to help decrease fibroid growth prior to surgery. The treatment only works for as long as it is used, and does not eliminate fibroids. Symptoms return once treatment stops. Hormone treatment for fibroids or adenomyosis is generally only used for less than six months, as the side effects are similar to those of menopause.
