Mohammad Bilal, MD is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist with experience performing minimally invasive vascular and non-vascular procedures since 2003, with substantial experience in the area of women’s health, especially performing UFEs.

Dr. Bilal currently serves as the Medical Director of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY. He received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in Boston. He completed both his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING AN INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGIST?

This is a specialty that not only helps out my physician colleagues but also the patients in a way that is highly specialized and innovative. We are able to perform minimally invasive procedures with lesser risk, optimizing patient comfort and impacting outcomes for patients’ quality of life using amazing innovative techniques and imaging.


HOW DO YOU PRACTICE EMPATHY AND COMPASSION WITH YOUR PATIENTS?

I treat everyone the way I would want to have myself treated. I listen carefully and I answer questions in detail so that they understand better in simpler terms and I always want to ensure that they have a great patient experience despite how complicated their care might be.


WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOU MOST WHEN IT COMES TO HOW YOU APPROACH YOUR WORK?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge Batman fan. This character, while being an ordinary human being, becomes extraordinary through highly skilled training, dedication and being a great detective to a be hero to those he serves. I want to be my patients’ hero.
